Who you are
We’re looking for a leader who can drive the delivery of technical and operational services for corporate data and technology platforms, ensuring business-critical applications and enterprise data systems meet service standards. You are an effective communicator, able to bridge technical and business needs while advancing data-informed decision-making and seamless service delivery.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, balancing day-to-day service management with long-term improvements to data processes and technology workflows. You excel at identifying inefficiencies, streamlining data and system workflows, and implementing improvements that enhance the reliability, accessibility, and performance of data services. You are experienced in managing change, optimizing technical operations, and leading initiatives related to data platform enhancements, system integrations, and architecture improvements.
You bring a strong understanding of IT service management best practices and are comfortable navigating complex technical and data environments. You are familiar with modern data management principles—including data modeling, data lifecycle management, and scalable data pipeline design—and can collaborate effectively with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders. Your passion for operational excellence, proactive problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration ensures that data and technology services run smoothly and evolve to meet business needs.
What you’ll get to do
The Senior Technical Analyst (Architect) is a professional role within IMIT that ensures the stability, performance, and efficiency of operational data and technology services. You will lead research, planning, and implementation efforts for corporate technology, data architecture, and service management across multiple environments and major data-enabled applications. You will also contribute to the design of enterprise data models, data integration patterns, and data platforms that support analytics and reporting across the organization.
You will collaborate with business and technical teams to understand data requirements, support the development of data products, and promote data governance and data quality practices. You will help ensure that data solutions are sustainable, scalable, and adaptable as new projects and requirements emerge. In addition, you will oversee technology and data service standards, mentor team members, and drive operational and data-focused projects that enhance overall service delivery and organizational data maturity.
As a Senior Technical Analyst (Architect), you will also:
Lead and enforce technical architecture policies, procedures, and service standards.
Develop and maintain multi-year technology and service roadmaps to align with business and operational needs.
Drive process improvements to enhance IT service delivery, system performance, and efficiency.
Lead major technological changes and ensure smooth implementation with minimal disruption.
Supervise and provide technical leadership to team members and project teams.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including cloud architectures, to drive innovation and manage risks.
Manage vendor relationships and oversee corporate technology costs to optimize service delivery.
Lead operational projects, including hardware deployments, system migrations, and service upgrades.
Conduct risk assessments for infrastructure and architectural changes, ensuring stability and efficiency.
This position is included in the bargaining unit.
Location: Victoria, BC
Compensation: $93,317.50 - $109,693.26 plus 6.25% Temporary Market Adjustment (TMA)
Competition Close Date: Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 @ 11:59PM
*The compensation range above is based on the salary schedule outlined in the CUPE 1767 Collective Agreement. Successful candidates typically start at the minimum of the range (Step 1), with the opportunity to receive an increment after 12 months of service.
What you bring to the team
Education
A university degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience
Minimum of five years of experience in system design, program design and programming.
Experience with operating system design and/or maintenance desirable.
Experience managing projects
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
