What is the opportunity?
As a senior underwriter for the Group Employee Benefits plan you will be responsible for the evaluation and selection of risk and the establishment of premium levels which will ensure the profitable acquisition of new cases and the continued profitable retention of inforce cases within the assigned authority levels.
What will you do?
•Achieve process performance goals, both at the individual and work unit level
•Contribute to high quality risk assessment and management within the work unit
•Support customer focus for internal and external customers
•Understand and contribute to rating, information collection, and workflow improvements
What will you need to succeed?
Must Have:
•Minimum 5 years of group underwriting experience with demonstrated knowledge of industry and marketplace trends
•Solid understanding of group products including product provisions, plan design, pricing and contractual benefits with proven consistency in performance over a sustained period of time
•Solid mathematical skills, creative problem solving/analytical reasoning skills and the ability to think conceptually and outside the box
•Demonstrated solid understanding of both top line and bottom line objectives and able to manage both
•A team player mindset which includes strong mentoring and coaching skills to assist team members in various stages of career and technical development
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with strong negotiation, persuasion and conflict resolution skills with a bias towards customer service
•Ability to work independently, well organized and able to handle multiple priorities concurrently while meeting deadlines
Nice to have:
•Bilingual (French)
•Demonstrated leadership ability and/or experience
•University degree preferred
