Adecco is actively seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our client’s Environmental Division in Burlington, ON. This is a full-time role offering a competitive salary of $115,000 per annum. The successful candidate will lead meaningful projects that protect ecosystems, support responsible development, and help clients navigate complex environmental regulations.

  • Pay Rate: $115k/year.

  • Location: Burlington, ON

  • Job type: Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct senior-level technical reviews and prepare reports for regulatory submissions.

  • Apply environmental policies to aquatic and/or terrestrial systems, secure permits (e.g., Fisheries Act, ESA), and recommend mitigation or restoration strategies.

  • Lead project proposals and support business development.

  • Manage projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Plan and oversee field programs (fish surveys, habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, wildlife inventories, wetland assessments).

  • Analyze data to support environmental impact assessments, Species at Risk permitting, and habitat restoration.

  • Liaise with clients, agencies, Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and consultants.

  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.

  • Represent the firm at stakeholder sessions, public meetings, and regulatory hearings.

Requirements:  

  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.

  • Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field (technical diploma with experience considered)

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including standardized surveys and expertise in a specialized area (e.g., fisheries, wetland ecology, SAR)

  • Strong skills in aquatic/terrestrial ecology, habitat assessment, restoration, and field methods

  • Project management experience; PMP an asset

  • Excellent technical writing and report review skills

  • Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental policies and legislation

  • Experience mentoring junior staff and guiding field programs

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, public meetings, and regulatory processes
