Are you a seasoned ecologist driven to make a tangible environmental impact?

Adecco is actively seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our client’s Environmental Division in London or Kitchener, ON. In this key leadership role, you’ll oversee multidisciplinary environmental projects, provide expert guidance on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations. You’ll also play a pivotal role in mentoring junior staff, supporting business development initiatives, and delivering innovative, science-based solutions that promote sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.

  • Pay Rate: $115k/year.

  • Location: London or Kitchener, ON

  • Job type: Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities:  

  • Lead technical review and reporting on environmental impacts for regulatory submissions.

  • Apply policies to aquatic/terrestrial systems, secure permits, and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Manage projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Plan and oversee field programs, including surveys of fish, wildlife, vegetation, and wetlands.

  • Analyze field data for impact assessments, SAR permits, and habitat restoration.

  • Liaise with clients, Indigenous communities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.

  • Support business development and proposal preparation.

  • Mentor junior staff through field training and report review.

  • Represent the firm at stakeholder meetings, public consultations, and regulatory hearings.

Requirements:  

  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.

  • Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field (technical diploma with strong experience considered).

  • 10+ years in applied ecology or environmental consulting.

  • Expertise in fisheries, wetlands, ecological restoration, or Species at Risk.

  • Strong skills in habitat assessment, taxonomy, restoration, and field methods.

  • Project management experience; PMP an asset.

  • Excellent technical writing and senior-level review abilities.

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.

  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental legislation.

  • Experience with impact assessments, mitigation plans, and mentoring junior staff.

  • Comfortable in public meetings, stakeholder sessions, and regulatory hearings; expert witness experience is a plus.
