Job Description 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a full-time Security Supervisor at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. In this key leadership role, you will oversee a team of security personnel responsible for monitoring our facility, including the building interior, parking garage, and loading docks.  

Working closely with employees, contractors, clients, and guests, the Supervisor helps ensure safe and efficient building operations at all times. Supporting the security management team, you’ll assist in enforcing company policies and procedures, while also helping to maintain the integrity of our advanced security systems, including C•Cure 9000, Avigilon, Key Watch, and PPM. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the safety and success of world-class events in a high-profile venue.  

General Duties Include: 

Employee Relations: 

  • Coaches, mentors and provides training for all security guards and Lead Hands 
  • Preparing working schedules, process payroll and approve overtime, shift changes, time off etc.  
  • Administers progressive disciplinary action when necessary 
  • Coordinates security services with other departments and clients 
  • Maintains effective working relationships with all internal and external customers 
  • Assists the Security Management team in the achievement of goals and objectives directly or through the security team 

Policies and Procedures: 

  • Assists the management team with the development of policies and interprets and ensures consistent application of security policies and procedures 
  • Documents and implements work methods, policies and procedures 
  • Assists the management team in the enforcement of company policies 
  • Must be able to balance security need and client expectations 

 

Job Skills and Requirements: 

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (College diploma or higher required). 
  • 2–4 years of progressive experience in security, with working knowledge of Arrest Authorities, Trespass to Property Act, Ontario Fire Code and Life Safety Systems, Access Control and CCTV Systems. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and EBMS software. 
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and lead a team. 
  • Proven experience in crowd management and event security within fast-paced environments. 
  • Effective communicator with exceptional organizational, team-building, and customer service skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage emergencies calmly and efficiently using sound judgment. 
  • Fluent in English; fluency in French is considered an asset. 
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. 
  • Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods. 
  • Comfortable working under pressure while managing multiple priorities. 
  • Familiarity with integrated systems such as C•Cure 9000, Avigilon, PPM, Key Watch, intercoms, and fire panel operations. 
  • Capable of conducting on-the-job coaching and providing progress updates to management on new trainees. 
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to compile clear, detailed reports using incident management software. 
  • Previous security experience in a hospitality or large event venue environment is considered an asset. 
  • Completion of a Police Foundations, Law Enforcement, or Community Justice Services program is an asset.
