About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Project Manager to join our dynamic Supply Chain Process Management team supporting collections. The work of a Project Manager is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.
In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, management, design, development, and implementation of projects supporting the whole blood collections process management change agenda. You will coordinate, lead and manage the activities of all stakeholders involved in the project team to achieve project objectives in accordance with established cost and time parameters. You may manage two or more large projects simultaneously.
Formula for Success
- Leveraging your project management experience, you will oversee the execution of the project proposal or business case to realize the vision, proposed solution, risk mitigations, resources, and benefits for the proposed project.
- Utilizing your collaboration skills, you will work with the project team and steering committee to recruit project team members, while leveraging your leadership and engagement skills to oversee, support and direct project team members in staying engaged with the plan and effectively accomplishing the goals and objectives of the project.
- Drawing on your project leadership experience, you will monitor and document the overall project plan and budget, ensuring the project meets timelines, targets and expectations based on the established parameters, providing regular project status updates to all key partners on behalf of the project team.
- Utilizing your communication, teamwork skills, and project experience, you will coordinate the activities of the project team, steering committee, internal and external partners to develop the project plan, define deliverables, identify roles and responsibilities, establish timelines and communications, training strategies, implementation and evaluation strategies, risk management, costs, transition, and close-out plans.
- Drawing on your decision-making expertise, you will make decisions that impact project deliverables, costs, and timelines, which will impact other business areas.
- Using your risk management expertise, identify, monitor, and mitigate substantial risks, with implications beyond the project.
Desired Education & Skills
- Post-secondary level education, preferably a university degree in a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Certification in Project Management, such as the PRINCE2, Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in program or project management and leadership skills is required.
- Proficiency with related software tools including Microsoft project professional, MSPO is an asset.
- General management experience including accountability for budgets and people.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret business needs, and develop integrated, innovative solutions.
- Ability to create a cross-functional team environment that promotes high performance.
- Ability to deal with senior management and external stakeholders on highly complex or sensitive issues.
