How You Will Make an Impact

  • Sorting, sizing, and racking of donated clothing, household items, food and other goods to be made readily available to be displayed in the Market Place.
  • Supervise and motivate students, volunteers, and special needs groups, that are assigned to the Venture Centre Program.
  • To ensure that donors and all donations are received in a gracious, respectful, professional manner.
  • The Program Worker is responsible for the demonstration of the Mission, Vision and Values at work within Good Shepherd Centre's.
  • Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility adaptability hospitality and dignity with sensitivity to the issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions and developmental disabilities.
  • A passion for serving people.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Provide service in a dignified and respectful manner that reflects the charism of Good Shepherd Centre's, and which integrates anti-oppression/anti-racism frameworks.
  • Certification in CPR or a willingness to be certified is also required.
  • Certification MHFA and NVCI required.
  • Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.
