This is a product manager position with the WaveLogic Technologies PLM team. The product manager is expected to work closely with a cross functional team to support the definition, introduction, and life cycle management of Ciena’s industry leading WaveLogic Technologies portfolio; specifically, the new product portfolio covering high speed ASICs, Electro-Optics and IP Cores to capture the explosive growth inside and around data centers, fueled by AI and compute interconnect requirements. The main objective of this position is to be the product management interface into Ciena’s WaveLogic technologies customers including key AEC, AOC, NIC, LPO, LRO, CPO and IMDD pluggables suppliers.
In this role you will focus on a new Ciena’s WaveLogic product line covering high speed ASICs such as Serdes, Retimer and PAM4 DSP, high-speed electro-optics such as Drivers and TIAs, and also IP cores based on Ciena’s WaveLogic foundational technology blocks.
As WaveLogic Technologies Product Line Management, you will be part of the PLM team that defines and leads the commercialization efforts to ensure Ciena’s high speed ASICs, components and associated technologies can meet the evolving consumption models by leading customers.
This is an individual contributor position reporting into the Ciena’s Product Line Management organization and offers the opportunity to influence Ciena’s new business endeavour across a broad range of market consumption models.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work in a cross-functional manner across Ciena’s modem and component teams and help define industry best practice of selling high speed digital and electro-optics components as products to customers
- Gather feature requirements from key customers (end customers, product marketing, and sales organization)
- Partner with marketing teams to develop product positioning and marketing collaterals (e.g., external presentations, data sheets, value propositions, competitive analyses, etc.)
- Work with product line managers and R&D architects in prioritizing features and defining roadmaps.
- Assist sales with ASIC and components roadmap presentations and RFx responses
- Serve as a key interface between engineering and sales/customers.
- ~10% travel required including international (e.g. customer visits, trade shows, cross-functional meetings, etc.)
Required Skills:
- Engineers with hardware design background and a desire to transition to a more business-focused position.
- Ability to become a subject matter expert on a wide variety of interconnect technologies, emerging component options and standards for inside and around data center applications.
- Self-motivated. Must possess Start-Up work ethics and mentality.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced organization with a growth mindset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, customer interaction and interpersonal skills; or strong desire to acquire/improve on these skills.
Required Experience:
- Education: Technical degree (BSEE minimum)
- Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated experience in relevant areas. Prior Product Management or Technical Marketing experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual pay range for this position is $91,400 CAD - $146,000 CAD.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
