ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to Arts Events Coordinator/DBM

SUMMARY

On a freelance basis, the successful candidate will shoot and execute photo and video services for the Faculty of Arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The successful candidate will report to the Communication and Events Coordinator and work closely with leadership, other members of the communications team, in addition to colleagues from across the Faculty of Arts to create engaging multimedia content that informs and engages audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create engaging internal and external visuals and video content using the universities established brand guidelines and visual elements
  • Work with team members on photo/video shoot pre-planning, storyboarding, and creative ideation – establishing a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video's creation, and its desired look and feel
  • Serve as a camera operator on photo/video shoots and events as required
  • Operate computer editing software and equipment used for video media and effects
  • Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, sound clips and other important aspects of the project
  • Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos according to specifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum two (2) years of direct photo and video experience.
  • A creative, collaborative team-player with a passion for visual storytelling
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and receptive to feed back
  • You have experience with editing software (After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • You understand how to optimize video content for all social platforms
  • Access to your own equipment (University to provide laptop and editing software)
  • Duties will require the ability to travel to all 5 KPU campuses (Surrey, Langley,Cloverdale, and Richmond) and other locations in the Lower Mainland.

SALARY INFORMATION

Anticipated Hourly pay rate: $28
