Reporting to the Director, Enrolment Management, the Manager, Recruitment is accountable for providing leadership in the development and implementation of the college’s domestic recruitment and conversion strategies, with specific oversight of the domestic Recruitment team. The Manager, Recruitment will plan and deliver services and programs with focus on optimal staffing, project management, service delivery, reporting and budget.
What you’ll be doing:
Recruitment
- In alignment with the College’s Recruitment and Conversion Strategy and to achieve the college’s Enrolment Plan, develops the tactics needed to generate the required leads and conversion activities; builds metrics to assess effectiveness and make recommendations to improve and sustain results.
- Provide direct guidance to domestic recruiting team, including the provision of training for all recruiters on college programs and services.
- Develop strategies and manages College-wide recruitment activities with school boards and works with other College Departments to ensure support is given with matters pertaining to Recruitment activities. Works with college partners in Marketing, Events or academic areas to integrate activities and complete post event analysis.
- In collaboration with the Manager, Admissions and broader Registrar's Office leadership team, develop a communication protocol for prospects and applicants to facilitate seamless and efficient management of both inbound and outbound interactions across various service areas across the college.
- Develop and implement, and continuously refine an enrolment continuum that outlines all general and segment specific communication, events and interactions at various milestones in the enrolment journey.
- Monitors all recruitment activities, such as class and community site visits, recruitment and conversion events and outreach, for planning and evaluation purposes.
- Maintains and develops relationship building activities that allow recruitment team continued and new access into schools and associations; relationships with guidance counsellors, caregivers, students, etc.
- Provides leadership and feedback in the development of the College’s recruitment tools (calendar, Viewbook, web).
- Establishes the required partnership with the academic areas to ensure the Recruitment Team has the most up-to-date information regarding College programs and services to accurately disseminate College information to prospective students, including the Recruitment website.
- Share feedback from recruitment team to various committees in the college who are developing the enrolment plans; labour market information, secondary school demand, etc.
Financial, Human Resources and Operational Effectiveness
- Responsible for the development, planning and disbursement of budget pertaining to Recruitment activities, including related promotional materials and marketing publications.
- Responsible for management of staffing resources and budget administration for the department.
- Responsible for the efficient and effective use of the operating funds allocated for staffing in the department, ensuring these are dedicated to core accountabilities.
- Expected to manage the departmental budget, identify anticipated expenditures, project costs associated with any new initiatives.
- Responsible for the leadership, daily activities and all Human Resources matters pertaining to the domestic Recruitment team.
- As a member of the Registrar’s Office management team, collaborates in the development and implementation of the Department’s strategic plan as part of the College’s administrative planning and service delivery process.
- Manages the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and processes supporting conversion activities as well as the ongoing review of existing policies, procedures and processes to reflect the changing needs of internal and external clients and to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of services.
- Promotes a high level of performance through effective recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating, training and development of staff for which incumbent is responsible.
- Manages support staff consistent with the provisions of the Collective Agreement.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships, contacts and memberships in professional organizations related to higher education in general and to college recruitment in particular. Some examples of such organizations include: CRALO; Colleges Integrating Immigrants to Education (CIITE); Ontario College Application Service (OCAS), etc.
- Subscribe to active List Serves in order to keep current with issues that may impact college enrolment.
Events
- Oversees the administration and execution of College wide events such as the Open House, Tours and other programming as needed.
- Ensures proper representation of Recruitment team members at College events.
- As a member of the Registrar’s Office, support is required for key student activities such as semester start-up and convocation.
Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- A relevant 4-year degree or equivalent education and experience in post-secondary education support admissions related activity. A broad educational background that could include studies in the areas of Business, Public Relations, Marketing and Higher Education Administration.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Registrarial environment or similar, in a position that supported recruitment and conversion related activities.
- A sound knowledge of the College’s procedures, policies and operating systems would be a benefit.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian educational systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Secondary School system, including curriculum and graduation requirements is required.
- Demonstrated analytic skills and solution-based, problem-solving expertise:
- Creative problem solving is required in order to co-ordinate the requirements of the individual School or program with the requirement to develop and maintain an effective centralized domestic admissions process.
- Excellent Communications Skills including Public Speaking Skills and Writing Skills:
- A consultative management style is required in order to facilitate discussion and decision making with the Academic Schools. This requires the ability to negotiate and clearly communicate ideas and concepts both on a one-on-one basis and to groups and committees.
- Research and policy analysis skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
