Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2)
The Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (www.resilientcolleges.ca) is a coalition of leading colleges, cégeps, institutes and polytechnics from across Canada, and is one of the driving forces in providing the skills required to transition to a clean economy in Canada. C2R2 members are leaders in education training and applied research and hold particular strength with respect to climate action and sustainability across a number of sectors. C2R2 institutions include British Columbia Institute of Technology, Yukon University, Okanagan College, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, Red River College Polytechnic, Mohawk College, Seneca Polytechnic, Algonquin College, Cégep de Rimouski, Cégep de Shawinigan, Nova Scotia Community College, New Brunswick Community College, and Holland College.
Mohawk College serves as the coordinating secretariat for the coalition. Functioning as a single mechanism, enabled by the strong backbone support of the coordinating secretariat, C2R2 unlocks the ability to bringing a national reach to regional expertise. With proven processes of deep collaboration, project operation, and reporting, the coalition leverages the strength of 15 institutions across Canada while remaining nimble and quickly responding to market needs. The coordinating secretariat streamlines capacity and navigates the complexities involved in making a coast to coast-to-coast impact.
In early, 2022 C2R2 launched Quick Train Canada (quicktraincanada.ca). Quick Train is designed to provide workers and employers with options to update skills quickly, and boost job security and participation as the economy transitions to more sustainable practices. To further Canada’s transition to a low carbon economy, Quick Train is designed to attract prospective learners and offer short-cycle training that will address workforce development need.
Now, in 2024, there is an exciting opportunity to lead, imagine and advance the potential of Quick Train Canada. C2R2 is hiring a Manager, Quick Train Canada to take the platform to the next level and amplify the impact realized over the past year.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Coalition Program Manager, the Manager, Quick Train Canada’s main responsibilities are to support the needs of the Quick Train Canada platform according to project goals, milestones, and deadlines. They will provide leadership, ensuring that strategic objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
They will oversee the functionality of the platform, lead partnership development, and create, maintain and update website content, following strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members, coalition institutions, other postsecondary institution partners, and third-party contractors or consultants from across Canada.
The Manager, Quick Train Canada will also support quality control throughout the platform lifecycle. This includes preparing standard and ad-hoc reports for C2R2 administration, and special reports as required, among others.
What you’ll be doing:
Operations and Partnership Development
- Lead the development and growth of business relationships vital to the success of the project, in coordination with other C2R2 team members.
- Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading the Quick Train Canada website.
- Identify and manage technological solutions to enhance platform operations and user experience.
- Respond to and troubleshooting all website issues.
- Identify potential issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation and presentations.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and potential contingency plans.
- In collaboration with internal supports, coordinates all legal agreements and contracts required for Quick Train participation.
- Support the delegation of tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Project Management and Planning
- Support project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with coalition program leads.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team and coalition members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Continually monitor expectations with team and coalition members and other stakeholders.
- Plan, schedule, and track website timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Develop best practices and tools for website execution and management.
Financial Operations and Reporting
- Support the financial aspects of the website and contracts including processing of invoices, expense allocation, transfers, monitoring of budget within budget guidelines.
- Estimate the resources needed to achieve project goals.
- Develop, implement, and manage reporting procedures with partners.
- Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments necessary.
- Ongoing communication with C2R2 Mangers in respect to timelines i.e., invoicing/staff departmental timesheets/contracts/proposals, etc.
- Produces relevant monthly paperwork and backup, uploads into FAST then submits invoicing to external organizations in coordination with Operations Manger.
- Weekly monitoring of invoicing, executing quick turnaround time with any overdue accounts from partners which requires keeping a good rapport with them and their team.
- Liaise closely with project team on deliverables.
Administrative Support
- Maintain team flexibility and support other Quick Train and/or C2R2 team members when required.
- Assist inventory management for project assets. Create and maintain for project auditing. Follow up with staff when needed.
- Promote policies/processes required for project deliverables under the guidance of the Coalition Manager. Report oversights/absences in department operations/practices to Coalition Manager for brainstorming/review/corrections and/or implementation.
- Keep C2R2 Coalition Manager abreast with the changes, challenges that arise with the duties/ practices/procedures/daily operations that the assistant may encounter.
- Assist in identifying areas for improvement and offer suggestions/insight. Help create and support continued maintenance of process (best practises and procedures) within the administration team for added efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and to streamline administrative functions for C2R2.

What you’ll bring to the role:
- A 4-year degree in Education Studies, Business Studies, Business Administration, Business Development, Management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience with project management and business development.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- Strong client relation and facilitation skills.
- Strategic planning experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in supporting collective impact initiatives.
- Digital marketing or experience in maintaining a website.
- Experience with projects that have a national scope is considered an asset.
- French as a second language is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
