The opportunity
Business Analysis is a key contributor to Product and Project delivery at OTPP. The role of Business Analyst covers a wide range of skills and activities that help the organization to deliver and improve products, services and processes through quality analysis, implementation and support. A Business Analyst is a subject matter expert within/across various business areas to effectively understand client needs, assess opportunities and contribute to design and solution recommendations. Additionally, a BA is expected to document and facilitate consensus on requirements, processes, and decision factors (e.g., outcomes / objectives, costs / benefits, quality levels, etc.) that enable the delivery of suitable solutions that meet the vision of the Business.
The Manager, Business Analysis will lead a group of Business Analysts who are aligned with client needs, promoting good practices and draws on a deep client understanding to improve initiative delivery outcomes such as enhanced agility and quality. Along with managing a team of Business Analysts, the role will also carry out some of the Senior Business Analyst duties. This is an active role that uses skills in the field in a changing and demanding environment.
Who you'll work with
In this dynamic role, teamwork will be the key to your success as you work with delivery team including Product Owners, Solution and Quality Engineering, Project Management contribute to the successful execution of roadmap commitments and/or project initiatives.
What you'll do
Manages a team of 6-8 (FTE and contract) Business Analysts aligned to Product, Service or Project teams and ensures the quality of work provided by the BA team is appropriate for delivery objectives and expectations. Ultimately accountable for the quality and outcome of BA deliverables.
Leads and encourages continuous improvement opportunities for business analysts and larger delivery teams. Fosters creativity and experimentation, encouraging new ideas that leverage technology for efficiency improvement.
Manages performance assessment and skills/knowledge development of direct reports in support of team and organizational goals.
Develops technical and business capabilities within the team to meet client requirements. Identifies and implements improvement opportunities for team members, the business analysis function, and integrated delivery process.
Works with Business, Product Owners and Solution Engineering and QA to ensure built solutions meet business needs.
Accountable for demonstrating requirements traceability and, where appropriate, planning, leading and support User Acceptance phase of initiatives (strategy, plan, test cases, execution oversight).
Manages resource capacity, provides effective coaching and ensures team has required skills and training to meet current and future needs.
Supports a culture of empowerment within the BA team, that includes delegation of responsibilities or activities where possible.
Builds strong relationships with stakeholders and demonstrates effective partnership throughout the organization.
Exercises appropriate judgment in identifying when to escalate items.
Decides on BA processes, resource alignment, metrics and strategies with consultation with the Senior Manager.
Recommends, negotiates and determines BA service levels with clients as it relates to delivery of services.
What you'll need
Minimum 5 years work experience holding roles in one or several of these key areas: BA Lead or equivalent, Implementation Consultant, Project Management, Program Management, Product Management, Application Management, Process Improvement.
Hands-on experience with capital market data analytics, data management and data warehousing. Experience with data science is a plus.
Prior experience leading and managing others, either directly or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Relevant university degree (could include Business, Computer Science, Mathematics). Asset would be one or more of: CFA, Certified Business Analysis Professional, project management professional designation, process improvement methodology accreditation.
Strong knowledge of data analytics, data profiling, institutional investment products including Exchange-traded products, Derivatives and/or Private and Alternative Investments, financial instrument valuation and Business Intelligence tools.
Excellent understanding of techniques and tools pertaining to the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of solutions.
Robust understanding of agile and waterfall project management delivery methodologies and the difference between requirements and needs.
Ability to prioritize, coordinate and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
Proactive customer service focus.
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple levels of clients, team and partners.
Proficiency with SQL.
