In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1. Team Coordination
- Work with Emergency Management (EM) Program staff to develop the program and documentation in compliance with different mandates.
- Mentor, coach and support employees and volunteers under your supervision, as applicable.
- Establish and implement standardized working methods within the team.
- Support selection and onboarding of new staff and volunteers.
- Facilitate and attend team meetings with personnel to coordinate operations, if needed.
- Contribute toward a safe and secure working environment.
- Represent the Quebec CRC team with internal and external partners.
Responsibility 2. Logistics
- Coordinate all logistics activities under your responsibility such as emergency materials management, materials inspection and refurbishing, inventory, and warehouse management. Coordinate the set-up, maintenance and dismantling of various infrastructure, including emergency and recovery units and warehouses.
- Coordinate CRC material resources (including inventory management).
- Plan and anticipate logistics work in collaboration with the management team.
- Assess logistics needs and recommend ways to improve operations.
- Ensure quality of service and compliance with established CRC standards and procedures in Quebec.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Red Cross partners and suppliers.
- Report on logistics activity and provide statistics as required.
- Help develop, draft, and update the documentation and tools needed for logistics tasks, warehousing, and emergency materials management.
- Support the development and oversight of various logistics tasks.
- Build and maintain relationships with various warehousing partners and ensure emergency supplies under your responsibility remain in good condition.
Responsibility 3. Emergency response
- Act as an active member of an emergency response team.
- Work with Emergency Management to develop and implement readiness plans.
- Implement and regularly update the various components of the Red Cross assistance program to meet the needs of impacted people.
- Liaise with other assistance stakeholders to maximize needs coverage.
- Ensure service delivery complies with established standards and procedures.
- Attend operational debriefings.
- Support major or large-scale disaster responses in Canada, as required.
What we are looking for :
- A university degree in a relevant discipline; a combination of relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of three to five years of work experience in logistics and emergency response.
- At least three years of relevant and recognized experience in project development and coordination.
- Experience as a Red Cross volunteer in Emergency Management is an asset, especially in a manager or supervisor capacity.
- Experience collaborating with partners from a variety of backgrounds
- Extensive knowledge of and practical experience with software such as the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) since a large part of the work will involve administrative follow-ups.
- Experience working in a volunteer setting (an asset).
Working conditions :
- This position is unionized, temporary and full time (35 hours a week).
- This position is based in Montréal.
- Most of the work is done in an office and/or warehouse environment.
- The incumbent must agree to complete required trainings.
- Travel throughout the community is a regular part of the job. A valid driver’s licence is essential.
- Possibility of working during non-traditional hours (i.e., evenings and weekends) and working long hours in a challenging context.
- Potential for responding in disaster areas, in difficult, unstable (environmentally, physically, socially, etc.) and uncomfortable (noise, odour, smoke, humidity, vulnerable clients) conditions.
- May be required to be on call as scheduled.
- Travel within the province and across Canada may be required.
- May be required to lift up to 20 kg (44 lb) of relief supplies during preparedness activities and responses.
