The Packet-Optical HW Development team is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative designer to join the hardware quality and life cycle management team working on Ciena’s Packet Optical platform products. The position will be tailored to the successful applicant and will involve working in a team which provides hardware support on our products in the field and in mitigating component obsolescence issues.
In this role you will...
- Review alternate components for 2nd source qualification and obsolescence
- Execute hardware verification plans and debug prototype hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic/network analyzers, protocol/signal generators etc.
- Debug and support hardware investigations of field issues
- Modify circuit packs to enable testing or to fix issues uncovered during testing

The Must Haves:
- Electrical Engineering program or equivalent
- Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and test sets) and measurement techniques would be beneficial
- Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design
The Assets:
- Experience designing and debugging hardware is an asset
- Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools is an asset
Compensation and Benefits (Students)
The pay range for this position is $24.50-$33.00/hour
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
