Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced financial Controller to oversee accounting and finance operations across multiple entities in Calgary, AB. This role combines hands-on financial management with strategic leadership, ensuring the organization’s financial health and supporting growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct all day-to-day accounting and financial activities for four companies.

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and consolidated financial reporting.

  • Ensure accurate job costing, WIP reporting, and margin analysis across projects.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with ASPE/GAAP.

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls and policies to protect company assets.

  • Collaborate with external auditors and advisors (e.g., KPMG) and communicate complex financial insights to leadership.

  • Lead financing efforts for large-scale projects (up to $40M+).

  • Cultivate strong relationships with banks, investors, and bonding partners.

  • Develop and present financial packages for lenders and investors.

  • Oversee construction draws, financing arrangements, and investor reporting for new developments.

  • Partner with executives to drive business planning, growth strategies, and risk management.

  • Advise on corporate structuring for tax efficiency and operational effectiveness.

  • Manage intercompany transactions and financial consolidation across divisions.

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and implement scalable financial systems.

  • Lead and mentor accounting and finance teams, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate team capacity and recommend staffing adjustments as needed.

  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for team members.

  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor costs, budgets, and profitability.

  • Deliver financial insights and scenario analyses for new projects and land acquisitions.

  • Forecast funding needs and advise leadership on capital deployment timing.

  • Maintain financial stability through proactive cash flow and risk management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing finances for organizations with $50M–$100M+ in revenue.

  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role (Controller, Director of Finance, or CFO).

  • CPA designation preferred (or equivalent senior-level experience).

  • Strong background in construction, development, or real estate.

  • Demonstrated success in funding, banking, and financial structuring.

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance hands-on financial oversight with strategic leadership.

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, multicultural, family-style environment.

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
