A career as a Senior Legal Advisor – Governance and Continuous Disclosure on the Governance and Investments team at National Bank means being at the heart of strategic decisions that enhance transparency, credibility, and compliance across the organization. This role allows you to make a tangible impact on corporate governance and market confidence through your legal expertise and strategic leadership.

Your job
  • Anticipate governance trends, best practices, and regulatory developments, and provide recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Implement innovative governance frameworks and policies tailored to the Bank’s needs, and assess their impact.
  • Provide legal opinions and prepare documentation for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Act as an expert on privileged information management, insider obligations, lobbying activities, and the Disclosure Committee.
  • Draft, review, and advise on continuous disclosure documents, including the Management Proxy Circular, press releases, and regulatory reports.
  • Contribute to the Annual Meeting of Shareholders and represent the Bank before regulators, industry associations, and external advisors.
Your team
Within the Legal Affairs sector, you report to the Senior Manager – Disclosure, Governance. You’ll join a team that plays a strategic role in shaping the governance of a leading Canadian bank. Our team is recognized for its expertise, diligence, collaborative mindset, and commitment to excellence in legal advisory services.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor of Laws and 10+ years of experience in governance and continuous disclosure, gained with a public issuer or in private practice.
  • Member in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Québec or the Barreau du Québec
  • Excellent analytical and legal writing skills
  • Strategic leadership and ability to manage complex, high-visibility mandates.
