What we offer

As a CAD/CAM Engineer in our innovative advanced manufacturing start-up, your mission is to transform design concepts into production-ready solutions. You will establish CAD standards, maintain component libraries, and implement best practices that support automation and operational excellence. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally to ensure every product meets SAMI’s quality, efficiency, and scalability goals.

 

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain CAD templates, parametric models, and component libraries for cabinetry manufacturing.
  • Translate design concepts into production-ready specifications, ensuring compatibility with manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with design teams to validate feasibility and optimize for manufacturability.
  • Optimize CAM Integration, including tooling selection and manufacturing workflows, based on available machinery and production limitations.
  • Work with shop floor teams to troubleshoot production challenges and improve workflows.
  • Manage and assist with ongoing development of processes for order entry of standard and custom cabinetry into CAD Systems.
  • Partner with planning and purchasing to assign correct materials and components to CAD models.
  • Develop custom engineering solutions for non-standard or complex cabinetry requirements.
  • Drive continuous automation of office processes to streamline engineering workflows and reduce manual tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
  • Collaborate with external software and machinery vendors to continually improve and develop processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What you bring

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Woodworking Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in CAD for manufacturing (cabinetry, millwork, office furniture, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking manufacturing processes, materials, and hardware.
  • Proficiency in imos iX (Homag iX), Microvellum, or similar.
  • Knowledge of parametric design and CAD automation techniques.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and automated production systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.

 

Bonus Points

  • Experience in roboticized or automated manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems for production and procurement planning.
  • Exposure to Optimization Software (CutRite, Ardis, or similar).
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and API integrations for linking and automating data between engineering and production systems.
  • Exposure to and experience with XML and JSON file formats is considered an asset.
