Your Opportunity

As the Vancouver BIM Lead, you will represent our Business Centre, spearheading the development and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) best practices. Your role is crucial for process improvement, user support, training, and assisting Practice/Technical leadership and project management in strategic initiatives. You will provide leadership, technical expertise, and ensure consistency of product and process to enhance project and design delivery within the Vancouver Buildings Practice (Architecture & Engineering).

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Actively lead in monthly Digital Practice Meetings, representing local architectural and engineering practice needs.
  • Serve as a liaison for BIM-related matters both internally and externally.
  • Lead and influence the implementation of interdisciplinary standards and improvements in digital project delivery.
  • Provide guidance to project teams on project scope (BIM related), approach, setup, delivery, including the development and implementation of BEP’s (BIM Execution Plans).
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of templates, families, and other digital content to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular reviews of projects to ensure quality and adherence to the Company standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend new BIM-related technologies.
  • Lead regular end-user support and training sessions.
  • Communicate corporate initiative and standards effectively across the studio, office, or Business Centre.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated success in large and complex project delivery, particularly in AE design projects and APD deliveries.
  • Deep understanding of Buildings systems design, layout, and coordination.
  • Expertise in modeling, drafting, visualization software, including the Autodesk Buildings Suite and associated plug-ins.
  • Strong grasp of design coordination/clash detection processes and technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and Project, and a functional knowledge of industry-standard software such Bluebeam, Newforma, SketchUp, dRofus, and ProCore.
  • Essential attributes include technical expertise, superior communication skills (verbal & written), customer service orientation, attention to detail, organizational skills, teamwork, and initiative.
  • You will serve as Business Center (BC) representative contributing to Buildings Digital Practice development and implementation of BIM best practices and process improvement. You will also provide user support and training and assist leadership and project management in strategic pursuits; and project planning to ensure expectations are clear and scope is defined for successful project execution and client satisfaction. Your core focus will be to provide local leadership, technical expertise, and consistency of product and process in support of the Vancouver office’s project/design delivery.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the AE profession/field required.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the AE industry, with at least 5 years focused on BIM technologies and processes preferred.
  • At least 3 years of management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Large & Complex project experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
