Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the CCA – Core Banking & Integration, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

  • Develop cost effective and efficient applications to meet business objectives by analyzing user requirements, providing technical specifications and design and developing/maintaining programs according to standards. The incumbent must ensure programs and applications developed meet the high availability, integrity and reliability of the on-line transaction processing environment

 

  • Provide production and user acceptance testing support to assigned applications by identifying, evaluating, escalating, resolving problems and supporting other team members

 

  • Responsibilities may also include participation in performance monitoring.

 

  • Provides technical guidance and training to less experienced analysts and programmers.

 

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Dimensions

The incumbent is responsible for the supporting the following:

  • CCA Region
  • Core Banking systems
  • Responsible for the design & development of simple to medium complex enhancement and participate in the development of major/complex enhancement > 500 workdays
  • Support multiple applications concurrently ensuring high availability, integrity and reliability of programs developed

 

 

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
  • 1-3 years developer experience
  • 1-3 years’ work experience as AS400 RPGLE Developer.
  • Experience with AS/400, RPGLE, Free Format RPG, DB2, SQL, VS Code, BitBucket
  • Experience working in an agile development environment (Confluence, Jira, CiAD pipeline, Scrum/Kanban).  
  • Detail oriented, team player with an ability to work with minimal direction.
