We are currently seeking an Assistant Registrar, Systems and Projects to join our Student Services - Registrar's Office team. 

About the Role

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is hiring an experienced Assistant Registrar, Systems & Projects to lead the Systems & Projects team in the Office of the Registrar. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing people, projects, and systems to ensure KPU’s student information infrastructure meets institutional goals and delivers a high-quality experience for students and staff. The ideal candidate brings a balance of technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and strong team leadership—with the ability to manage system improvements while fostering a high-performing, service-driven team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and develop a team of project leaders and functional analysts.
  • Set performance goals, provide coaching, conduct evaluations, and manage team workflows.
  • Oversee resource planning, team development, and service delivery within the unit.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional committees and initiatives.
  • Contribute to budgeting and operational planning for the Registrar’s Office.

Systems & Project Oversight

  • Plan, lead, and implement student system projects (e.g. upgrades, integrations, reporting tools).
  • Ensure accurate documentation, requirements gathering, testing, and system rollout.
  • Serve as functional lead on student information systems (Banner Student or equivalent).
  • Develop and maintain data governance, security protocols, and reporting solutions (e.g. SQL, FAST).
  • Identify and implement process improvements aligned with institutional strategy and compliance.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in student systems or registrar-related functions in post-secondary.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory/people management experience.
  • Solid background in project management and systems implementation.
  • Advanced knowledge of student information systems (e.g. Banner), SQL, and reporting tools.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Salary Information

The above compensation range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position.  Typically, initial salary placement is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum.  This represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position.  In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and approximately halfway of the salary range for a job with consideration given to internal equity.
