Adecco is currently hiring an Opto-Mechanical/Opto-Electrical Technician for a full-time temporary position with one of our valued clients, in Ontario.

In this hands-on lab-based role, you will support the development, testing, and improvement of advanced opto-mechanical and opto-electronic systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with optical equipment, electronics, and automation scripting, and thrives in a technical, fast-paced engineering environment.

  • Location: Ontario

  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary

  • Shifts: Monday to Friday | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Pay rate: $40/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute build and testing of opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems using drawings and procedural documentation

  • Set up test equipment, monitoring devices, measurement tools, and perform testing on breadboards, prototypes, and production units

  • Operate advanced optical tools such as Zygo interferometers, optical power meters, lasers, and scientific cameras

  • Contribute to the development and execution of automation scripts for lab equipment (Matlab or Python)

  • Read harness drawings and perform wiring, soldering, safe-to-mate procedures, and pinout verification

  • Troubleshoot systems using diagnostic equipment to assess performance and resolve technical issues

  • Conduct experiments to assess materials, equipment, and processes for suitability and performance

  • Document procedures, draft laboratory notes, and markup drawings for proposed changes

  • Improve existing fixtures, devices, and processes by implementing refinements

  • Provide technical support to engineering teams and participate in collaborative problem-solving

  • Support continuous improvement of opto-mechanical and opto-electronic systems and products

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • CGP clearance required

  • Technical diploma or degree in a relevant field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with optic-based lab work or optical system setups

  • Hands-on experience building and testing opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems

  • Experience creating and repairing electronic systems, soldering, cable creation, and reading schematics

  • Strong knowledge of opto-mechanical and opto-electronic components

  • Ability to write, edit, and execute test scripts in Matlab or Python

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Assets:

  • Experience with fiber optic systems

  • Experience working with Class 4 lasers and laser safety

  • Experience with environmental testing, ESD, and clean room testing

  • Knowledge of electrical systems and CAD mechanical modelling

  • Experience testing and calibrating electronic components

  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as power meters, light sources, oscilloscopes, and multimeters

  • Strong project-management skills and initiative

  • Customer-facing communication skills

  • Experience using SAP
