What is the Ambassador Program?
The Ambassador Program’s mission is to connect and share regional best practices for representatives of our Proud Partner network.
Pride at Work Canada’s Ambassador Program was established in Montreal in 2014 to drive local execution of Pride at Work Canada’s Canada-wide strategy and more effectively engage Pride at Work Canada’s Proud Partners in the province of Quebec. Following several years of success, the program expanded to Calgary in 2017 and continues to grow.
The Ambassador Program operates as a series of regional groups made up of representatives from our Proud Partner network. These representatives are PaWC Ambassadors. Regional groups get together at least once a quarter as a way to connect with other employees from our Proud Partners and share best practices and strategies for creating 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming work environments. Regional ambassador groups are also involved in supporting the development of Pride at Work Canada events in their local community.
The program is designed to encourage our partners to engage with PaWC and help make the most of their membership. It’s also a great way for our partners’ employees to stay aware of our educational programming, upcoming resources or research, and network with other DEI and/or HR professionals. These groups are a space dedicated to discussing important DEI topics, such as how to communicate 2SLGBTQIA+ workplace needs, creating successful ERGs, and more.
Why be an Ambassador?
Ambassadors have the unique opportunity to be part of a network of established and emerging leaders in their region who are working to advance 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in their respective workplaces. Ambassadors help their employer to maximize the benefits of partnership with Pride at Work Canada.
Specific benefits include:
• Expand personal and professional networks
• Share best practices
• Discuss the challenges facing employers from a regional perspective
• Actively engage in shaping Pride at Work Canada initiatives in a specific region
• Ensure that employers maximize the value of partnership with Pride at Work Canada
• Obtain valuable skills required to obtain senior volunteer roles on advisory committees and governance boards
• Have a lot of fun!
How to become an Ambassador?
Each of Pride at Work Canada’s Proud Partners has the opportunity to participate in the Ambassador Program. We invite every Partner to identify individuals from their organization to apply. Partners experience the highest return on investment (ROI) when their employees are meaningfully engaged in Pride at Work Canada’s mission from coast to coast.
Each partner may nominate up to two individuals per regional group. The program is currently offered in the following locations:
- British Columbia
- Calgary, AB
- Manitoba
- Maritimes (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I)
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Ontario
- Quebec
