A career as a Senior Legal Advisor within the Legal and Regulatory Affairs – National Bank Investments team at National Bank means acting as a subject‑matter expert in securities law to support the development and distribution of investment products. This role allows you to make a tangible impact on the organization through your legal expertise, analytical judgment, and ability to support partners on complex, high‑visibility matters.

Your role
  • Anticipate and analyze business issues to identify internal partners’ needs and propose legal strategies tailored to investment‑related activities.
  • Draft, review, and interpret regulatory and commercial documents, including prospectuses, offering memoranda, portfolio management agreements, and related documentation.
  • Provide legal opinions in securities law and support internal partners in managing complex and strategic files.
  • Contribute to the development of new products, special projects, and the evolution of policies, standards, and processes related to investment products.
  • Identify legal and reputational risks associated with activities and proactively recommend solutions to mitigate them.
  • Act as a subject‑matter resource in your area of expertise to ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of legal interventions.
Your team
Within the National Bank Investments sector, you are part of a committed, multidisciplinary team and report to the Senior Director, Legal and Regulatory Affairs. The team stands out for its strategic role, professional rigor, and ability to thrive in a constantly evolving environment, while offering a flexible and collaborative work setting.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in law with seven to ten years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the Barreau du Québec, the Law Society of Ontario, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec;
  • Demonstrated experience in securities law;
  • Experience drafting and interpreting complex regulatory and commercial documentation;
  • Knowledge of regulations governing investment products and their distribution.
