Westland Insurance Group is growing and has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Associate to join our M&A team. This is an internally facing role designed for someone who thrives on structure, governance, and driving accountability. Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $71,200 to $89,000 based on a 40-hour work week. Your rate of pay will be determined based on your individual qualifications and experience while considering internal equity.

As a Business Development Associate, you'll play a critical role in supporting the early M&A lifecycle by driving acquisition sourcing objectives and strengthening governance, reporting, and execution discipline. This is an internally focused, analytical, and execution-oriented role where you will manage the full acquisition sourcing pipeline, establish reporting and management routines for senior leadership, and drive accountability across sourcing activities. You'll work closely with M&A leadership and senior leaders across the organization to ensure sourcing objectives are achieved and strategic priorities remain on track.

Why we'll love You:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as strategy, entrepreneurship, marketing, engineering, business management, finance, or project management
  • Minimum 3 years' direct experience in corporate development, B2B sales or marketing, project management, or consulting
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and concurrent projects
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders, building trust, and influencing without direct authority
  • Strong analytical and intermediate financial acumen, including the ability to read and summarize financial statements, understand revenue, EBITDA, profitability measures, performance metrics, and basic valuation techniques
  • Highly proficient in MS365 applications, Salesforce, project management tools, and data analysis
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, well-structured materials and articulate complex concepts both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, collaboration skills, and interpersonal effectiveness


Once here, you'll:

  • Own and manage the full acquisition sourcing pipeline, ensuring accurate Salesforce tracking and timely progression of all prospects
  • Establish and maintain insightful reporting of sourcing activities (dashboards, activity reports, outreach tracking) and overall M&A KPIs (e.g., ROI, performance tracking, synergies tracking) for senior leadership
  • Develop and maintain clear, insightful reporting and dashboards on sourcing activity and M&A KPIs for senior leadership
  • Partner with the broader M&A Team and Business on formal outreach initiatives, including acquisition campaigns, development of pitch decks, and outbound communication materials
  • Support M&A lifecycle objectives by assisting the Deal Team with pre-planning, business casing, documenting goals and timelines, and coordinating cross-functional tasks
  • Coordinate meetings, track milestones and action items, and support execution across multiple concurrent deals
  • Provide analytical, operational, reporting, and ad hoc support throughout the M&A lifecycle
