Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As Senior Manager, Business Risk Management, you will serve as an enabler and primary Business Risk Manager (BRM) partner for sales strategies and go-to-market change initiatives for investments digital strategy, Financial planning and Mass Affluent client strategies and Savings and Investments acquisition and retention strategies.  Bringing a strategic mindset, you will bridge business goals with risk governance discipline, providing oversight, challenge and enablement. You will maintain current knowledge of RBC risk standards and the evolving regulatory landscape, ensuring oversight activities are relevant and aligned to enterprise expectations.

What will you do?

  • Provide risk oversight on business lead change initiative and programs.

  • Partner with the business lead to identify, assess and monitor risks arising from these initiatives and changes.

  • Support the design and implementation of effective controls aligned to regulatory expectations and internal policy.

  • Facilitate risk-informed decision-making with business stakeholders, functional and risk partners, influencing without authority.

  • Oversee identification, documentation and escalation of issues, root cause analysis, ensuring timely and sustainable resolution with clear ownership and actions.

  • Monitor the risk and regulatory environment for developments relevant to the Savings and Investments portfolio and escalate emerging risks and themes with well-synthesized analysis and recommend actions.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Client-first orientation with a demonstrated commitment to delivering sound advice and outcomes that serve our clients.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to translate complex risk concepts.

  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading multiple concurrent initiatives and driving deliverables to completion.

  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory frameworks governing the Savings and Investments portfolio such as CIRO, AML, OFSI, FCAC, OSC, etc.

  • Highly independent with the ability to operate with minimal directions, exercise sound judgement and drive outcomes autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Organizational awareness and ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization, building relationships and driving outcomes across multiple stakeholders and reporting lines.

Nice to have:

  • Demonstrated ability to keep pace with an evolving regulatory and risk environment.

  • Experience in first line or second line risk governance and oversight.

  • Knowledge of retail or wealth distribution models.
