What You Will Do
The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting with the company’s tax compliance, tax planning, and accounting for corporate income taxes. You will actively participate in corporate income tax issues impacting our different businesses which will allow for the development of your tax, analytical, and communication skills.
Accounting for income taxes, including the preparation of quarterly tax reconciliations and year-end tax provision.
Prepare corporate and partnership tax returns and other tax filings on a timely basis.
Continuously seeking efficiencies to streamline tax compliance processes.
Assist in federal and provincial income tax audits including resolving related tax disputes.
Research and assist on issues, as assigned, by examining specific tax legislation and court decisions, and relevant publications to identify available options and determine recommended tax treatments.
Stay current on income tax changes, analyze the implications of any changes to federal and provincial tax rules, published rulings, interpretations and court case.
Prepare schedules to support various tax attributes.
Prepare tax installment schedules by comparing expected and previous taxes payable while ensuring accurate and timely tax payments as required by the relevant legislation.
Liaise with other business units and provide tax support as needed.
Perform other corporate tax related duties as required.
What you bring
University degree in Finance/Accounting or business related discipline.
CPA accounting designation or working towards completion.
CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course or willingness to complete.
2-3 years of corporate tax experience.
Solid knowledge of income tax law and administration, financial accounting principles and practices, and the Company and industry operations.
Ability to review and analyze complex accounting entries.
Experience with and working knowledge of the Income Tax Act.
Proven analytical, problem solving, and accounting skills.
Strong interpersonal & communications skills (verbal & written).
Strong organizational skills and commitment to attention to detail.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Taxprep.
Strong research skills and experience using tax research platforms such as Taxnet Pro and EY Canadian Tax Library preferred.
Working knowledge of Peoplesoft is considered an asset.
