The Department of Aviation in the School of Engineering Technology and Aviation is looking for an outstanding individual to join our dedicated faculty team as a Part Time Professor for Aviation – Avionics, Structures and Maintenance programs.
The successful applicant will teach, in our Transport Canada Approved Training Organization. Programs are running at Mohawk College’s campus and at the Hamilton International Airport. To be considered the applicant must possess a current license in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering category M, E or S.
The Professor, Aviation reports directly to the Associate Dean responsible for Aviation and will teach in any number of courses in the Maintenance, Structures and Avionics programs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Teach courses in aircraft avionics, maintenance and structures.
- Maintain program integrity of the Aviation Programs by adhering to the Transport Canada regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining records inclusive of student projects, examination records, daily attendance records, student grades.
- Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and laboratories.
- Develop, deliver and revise learning resources within the department.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- A current license in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Category M, E or S.
- Prior post-secondary teaching experience an asset.
- Ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages.
- Learner-centred approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
