Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation Oilsands Business Unit (OBU) is recruiting for a Planner/Scheduler to join the Planning and Scheduling team, positioned in Sherwood Park, supporting our mamawi district surrounding and within the Edmonton area. Reporting to the Supervisor, Planning/Scheduling in Sherwood Park, this thrilling opportunity will position an individual as part of a dynamic team that provides support across Conventional, Oil Sands and Terminal operations.
The Planner/Scheduler is responsible to complete planning, coordinating, and scheduling of operations work tasks for pipeline and equipment maintenance activities. This includes liaising between control center operations, district supervision and field personnel for planned and reactive maintenance activities.
Pembina’s Oil Sands Business Unit (OBU) is one of Canada's largest oil sands and heavy oil pipeline operators and the business unit operates one of the largest merchant terminal businesses in western Canada. These combined assets allow us to provide long-term, dedicated transportation services to our customers.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Establish and maintain internal and external relationships;
- Understand corporate KPI’s and impacts to the business;
- Remain up to date with KPI trends and areas of improvement;

Planning:

- Review approved work notifications daily in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Lead Weekly Planning Meetings as required;
- Perform detailed job planning on corrective work as well as PM Improvements;
- Perform on-site walkdowns for complex tasks and outage planning requirements;
- Collaborate with project teams and internal stakeholders to identify outage/availability impacts and integrate workloads into Workorder Management System;
- Review daily failure report/operations log to identify re-occurring trends and potential improvement plans;
- Assist with the development of new maintenance plans/items in the SAP environment;
- Adjust existing plans/items as required in part with optimization and efficiency initiatives;
- Provide input on how equipment is maintained and operated accordingly to procedure or manufacture recommendations;
- Support the development and implementation of asset management and reliability strategies and initiatives;
- Work with leadership personnel to identify opportunities for improvement and leverage industry best practices;
- Assist with MOC identification in accordance with Pembina’s MOC policy & support MOC processes when required;
- Assist with the development of operational procedures for maintenance activities including equipment shut down, LOTO, and risk assessments;
- Assist Operations & Maintenance with LOTO development for non-routine maintenance activities including cars seals, deviations, and bypass plans; and
- Assist with identification and correction of deficiencies in procedures and follow document control processes.
Scheduling:
- Lead and collaborate with leadership personnel in assigned areas to develop work schedules for operational staff and internal stakeholders;
- Develop, optimize, maintain, and distribute planned maintenance and reliability jobs including 7-day frozen and 14-day execution schedules to Maintenance and Operations, and participates in the 45-day outlook sessions; and outage management Sessions;
- Manage & review work order backlogs to identify opportunities to integrate into the scheduling process;
- Assist with and identify outage/availability impacts to operations and schedule accordingly;
- Lead scheduling meetings;
- Communicate maintenance schedule and progress to operations team and control center operations;
- Review daily failure report/operations log to identify break-in work that may affect the current schedule;
- Work with Planning, to draft/develop 52-week maintenance schedules for long range planning/scheduling forecasts; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of related progressive experience in operations and maintenance;
- A proven track record of being a team player in complex operational environments;
- Experience with SAP (Plant Maintenance) is considered an asset;
- Technical procedure writing experience is considered an asset;
- An excellent communicator with strong organizational skills;
- Journeyperson Trades certificate is considered an asset;
- CMRP and/or MMP certification is considered an asset; and
- Valid Driver’s License (subject to Driver’s record check).
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Sherwood Park, AB.
Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
