JOB OVERVIEW:  COMPENSATION ADVISOR (Hybrid)

The Compensation Advisor is responsible for providing expertise in the development, implementation, and administration of KPU’s compensation programs. This position works collaboratively in implementing wage and salary administration, job evaluation, and organizational redesign initiatives to provide coordinated services on compensation matters. The role works closely with the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) in effective people relations related to compensation matters.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Management or a related field. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and  Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) are considered assets.
  • Minimum of five years’ related experience in compensation, classification, or job evaluation. Preference for HR experience in post-secondary, public sector or large, complex multi-union organizations 
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of employment and labour legislation and government policies, including Employment Standards, Labour Relations Code, Employment Equity and Human Rights Code. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of individuals, with strength in communication including the ability to present information clearly, concisely and to be persuasive. 
  • Ability to liaise effectively and diplomatically with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and to advocate on behalf of the University. 
  • Demonstrated judgement, discretion and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. 
  • Demonstrated innovation and change management skills, including supporting and encouraging new ideas and approaches to build organizational efficiency. 
  • Demonstrated business acumen considering the business impact in decision making while maintaining a people first perspective. 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify and recommend creative solutions. 
  • Proven ability to juggle and prioritize tasks, work to deadlines and demands, making responsible decisions and determine when to seek advice. 
  • High customer service orientation, with the ability to create a positive and meaningful customer experience. 
  • Intercampus travel is required, possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.
