To be considered for this competition you must be enrolled in a registered co-op program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, and eligible for a Work Term during the specified period. Students must upload proof of enrolment in a co-op program when completing your application.

Job Summary

This is a great opportunity to evaluate the impacts of urbanization on the City’s watercourses and assist in the planning of restoration, maintenance and capital improvement works.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Stormwater Assets & Programming Manager, the successful candidates will

  • undertake creek erosion and other watercourse related assessments
  • prepare field assessment reports and investigate creek erosion complaints
  • other duties will include assisting in the preparation of the 10-year Capital Budget, mapping information and Fill Permit Applications for erosion protection works
  • It is expected that at least 50% of the time will be spent in the field

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Water Resources / Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science program preferably at the intermediate or senior level.  
  • Must be familiar with Windows, including Word and Excel. 
  • Experience with MS Access, Microstation or AutoCad software would be an asset.
  • An understanding of hydrology, soils, fluvial geomorphology and channel dynamics would be preferable.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Fieldwork experience would be an asset.
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and an excellent driving record. 

Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.80 - 23.53
Hours of Work: 35
