Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Securities Operations, the Analyst, Securities Operations is responsible for the daily processing of derivatives and marketable transactions, which encompasses trade capture, cash payments, and maintaining of all information pertaining to the asset throughout the life cycle. This is particularly complex due to the individual nature of trades and investment strategies relating to derivatives and marketable, as well as the rapid growth in the size of the derivatives exposures. The individual in the position possesses strong and comprehensive knowledge of multiple types of products. The Analyst, Securities Operations will have considerable co-ordination and liaison between the Investment Management Group, Investment Finance, fund custodians, various financial counterparties, and the IT Investment Solutions Group.
What you will do:
Responsible for the accurate, timely and complete trade capture of all capital market instruments including fixed income, equities, and derivatives.
Reconcile, troubleshoot, and confirm settlement of daily variation margin for Futures and Listed options and centrally cleared OTC swaps such as Interest Rate Swaps and Credit Default Swaps.
Liaise with HOOPP’s numerous external counterparties to verify and validate cash movements for derivative settlement purposes and input payments in Custodian’s portal or HOOPP’s internal system, NOVA.
Provide reporting to Investment Finance and Investment Management including but not limited to: Cash Flow Projection, Trade Blotter, Hedge check reports, SimCorp Dimension Holding Key Infractions Reconciliation, End of Day Equity Options and Swaption Maturity Integrity Check.
Perform daily position reconciliation between HOOPP and Custodian positions, follow-up on discrepancies.
Process corporate actions as required.
Evaluate existing processes and continually identify opportunities for improvement or enhancement.
Liaise with the other departments within Investment Finance as required in resolving issues such as derivative settlement discrepancies, corporate actions, and trade processing.
Assist project groups in the implementation and testing of ongoing projects.
Participate actively in teamwork and knowledge sharing within Securities Operations and throughout Investment Finance.
Build and transfer knowledge with other Analysts and back up critical daily activities
What you bring:
University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial sector, preferably in capital markets
Strong knowledge of capital market instruments including fixed income and equities
Strong knowledge of derivative instruments such as swaps, options and futures gained through industry experience
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Proactive self-starter who is highly motivated and results oriented
Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness is very important along with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Identify and implement process improvements where necessary
Willing to assume other responsibilities as required
Relevant computer literacy is mandatory
Completion or enrolment in a professional designation program (ie.CFA) is an asset
