Rainbow Story Hub Foundation
When funding permits, we provide cash honorariums to individuals interested in conducting interviews and crafting stories about the people, places, events, and organizations within our community. These stories can be presented in written, video, or pictorial formats. We also welcome individuals who wish to share their own personal narratives connected to local history through their unique perspectives and memories.
To support storytellers, we offer editorial and research assistance, as well as guidance on utilizing resources to present their creations in engaging and informative formats.
Additionally, we collaborate directly with local historical organizations such as the Edmonton Heritage Council, The City of Edmonton Archives, and the Provincial Royal Alberta Museum to advocate for the importance of further amplifying and enhancing LGBTQ+ presence within their collections.
We are supported by donations from community members and organizations like DRAG.JPEG as well as the City of Edmonton, the Edmonton Historical Council and the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose.
Mission
At Rainbow Story Hub Foundation, we are dedicated to preserving and amplifying the diverse narratives and lived experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and communities. Through storytelling, education, and advocacy, we strive to foster understanding, empathy, and acceptance, creating a more inclusive society where everyone's story is valued and celebrated. Our mission is to provide a platform for queer voices to be heard, ensuring that the rich tapestry of 2SLGBTQ+ history and culture is preserved for future generations.Caption: RSH Director/Historian Rob Browatzke (front centre) working with community members to identify thousands of photographs prior to them being permanently added to the City of Edmonton Archives in their Resource Room.
