Summary
We are seeking a candidate to join Bell Canada’s Procurement as Category Manager, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Procurement. This role would focus on significantly reducing the cost of doing business while increasing controls, mitigating risk, and changing the spend culture at Bell. The portfolio includes the operations of the Buy Desk, sourcing with small vendors of all categories where necessary, and governance of processes. This portfolio is high profile and considered key in meeting the overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine the proper procurement channels for Buy Desk inquiries and support everything from low-value everyday purchases to large strategic procurement projects in a timely and courteous fashion
- Conduct detailed assessments of clients’ needs and coordinate details with multiple stakeholders
- Ensure a full understanding and of all established and new departmental guidelines, policies and procedures in addition to ensuring compliance with all
- Lead and/or support sourcing initiatives utilizing Bell systems in the distribution and management of RFI, RFQ and RFP documents for a mixed category spend portfolio
- Drive total cost of ownership reduction through ad-hoc projects on supplier consolidation, process improvements with suppliers and re-negotiating contracts directly
- Governance of purchasing processes and policies to align with business objectives
- Promote a more streamlined user experience and increase customer satisfaction
- Manage, perform quality control, and generate reports on spend data and other key indicators as required
- Recommend, develop, coordinate and implement best practice processes and procedures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the work performed by Procurement
- Other ad-hoc Buy Desk related project as needed
Critical Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years procurement experience
- University degree or College diploma and equivalent work experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate and work with various stakeholders, other Procurement colleagues and external clients
- Great customer service experience
- Excellent negotiation experience
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize between daily work and special projects
- Results focused; resilience in face of complexity
- Office software proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- University degree in business administration or supply chain management
- Varied Telco experience and business knowledge
- Understanding and experience in sourcing and analysis tools (SAP Ariba, Ivalua, etc.) or other similar systems
- In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
