Royal Bank of Canada is seeking an experienced AEM as a Cloud Service Technology Lead to drive digital excellence across our enterprise. As a critical technical anchor within RBC’s Digital Commerce team, you will provide technical hands-on leadership for AEM as a Cloud Service platform, including Edge Delivery Services and other Adobe Experience Cloud solutions. This role is your opportunity to shape the architecture and standards for secure, scalable and maintainable delivery across RBC’s public-facing digital properties – serving millions of customers daily. You will combine active solution design, architectural oversight, developer mentorship, and platform modernization while working in a dynamic, collaborative environment where your technical vision directly impacts RBC’s competitive advantage in digital banking.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Lead architectural strategy and solution design for AEM as a Cloud Service implementation, establishing enterprise-grade standards aligned with security, scalability, governance, and regulatory compliance requirements specific to financial services

  • Drive platform modernization by leveraging AEM Core Components, standardizing content models, and promoting best practices in OSGi services, Sling models, workflows and native authoring framework

  • Own technical governance including branching strategy, release management, and risk management processes; enforce non-functional requirements across performance, security, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability

  • Mentor and lead engineering squads, conduct rigorous code reviews, establish quality gates, and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement across development teams

  • Drive cross-functional alignment with DevOps, SRE, QE and enterprise architectural teams; serve as the primary escalation point for complex platform, integration, and performance issues

  • Define and optimize development processes, including CI/CD pipelines, secure SDLC practices, code review standards, and Cloud Manager release workflows to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality

  • Guide delivery patterns across headful, headless and hybrid implementations, ensuring consistency with architectural standards and customer requirements

  • Support enterprise integrations with Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, Adobe Assets, and Dynamic Media to maximize the value of the Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

 Must have:

  • Deep full-stack engineering leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives in enterprise or regulated environments

  • Strong architecture and implementation expertise in AEM as a Cloud Service, including hands-on proficiency with Cloud Manager, Git-based branching strategies, Maven, and CI/CD pipelines governance

  • Proven track record delivering complex, high-traffic multi-site AEM implementations in regulated or enterprise financial services environments, with experience mentoring engineering teams

  • Technical mastery in content architecture, security best practices, performance optimization, technical debt management, and full-stack Java/JavaScript development

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication with strong presentation skills; ability to influence key decision makers and communicate technical concepts across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-have:

  • Adobe Certified Expert (AEM Sites Architect) designation or equivalent industry-recognized AEM certification

  • Familiarity with Adobe Edge Delivery Services, headless content delivery via Content Fragments and GraphQL, modern composable architectures

  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) with understanding of containerization concepts and cloud-native AEM environments

  • Experience in matrix environments at large; strategic thinking with excellent interpersonal skills to influence across functions and businesses

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable

  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities

  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact

  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team

  • A world-class training program in financial services

  • Flexible work/life balance options
