Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Supervisor, Work Equipment to lead maintenance operations and ensure the safe, efficient performance of equipment across assigned territories. This role is responsible for supervising unionized teams, managing maintenance workflows, controlling costs, and ensuring equipment reliability to support operational demands. In this position you will play a key leadership role in maintaining safety standards, optimizing maintenance processes, and ensuring the availability of critical equipment to meet program and track maintenance schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of shops and assigned territories

  • Supervise unionized employees, ensuring maintenance and repair activities are completed safely and efficiently

  • Provide a safe work environment through consistent application of policies, procedures, and training

  • Ensure equipment fleet reliability through effective maintenance and repair planning

  • Guarantee equipment availability to support operational schedules and track maintenance requirements

  • Control operating costs by implementing unit cost analysis by equipment type

  • Monitor and manage labour, inventory, and material costs to ensure cost efficiency and asset utilization

  • Manage and control monthly and annual budgets for assigned cost centers

  • Build, develop, and motivate a high-performing team

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Licensed Heavy-Duty Mechanic (asset)*

  • Post-secondary education in a related field* (asset)

  • Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) qualification* (asset)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cost control, budget management, or related industry

  • Experience supervising or managing mechanics in shop or field environments

  • Experience working in regulated and safety-focused environments (asset)*

  • Experience managing or overseeing budgets (asset)*

  • Experience supervising a unionized workforce, including:

    • Interpreting collective agreements

    • Handling grievances

    • Participating in union discussions and negotiations

    • Managing disciplinary actions* (asset)

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment capacity, reliability, and safety standards

  • Ability to assess capital purchases and analyze leasing options

  • Understanding of cost analysis and financial performance metrics

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) (asset)*

  • Ability to meet all medical fitness for duty requirements

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Ability to delegate and empower teams while maintaining accountability

  • Adaptability and ability to drive change in a dynamic environment

  • Strong communication with impact across multiple stakeholders

  • Proactive identification and mitigation of safety and operational risks

  • Bilingual (English/French) skills* (asset)

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
