The Master of Public Policy Program invites applications for the following teaching position in the 2026-27 session:

PUBPOL 763: Urban Planning

This course provides an overview of the professional practice of urban planning, specifically as it relates to housing policy development and implementation. It introduces the role of the urban planner in the policy process as well as the core knowledge and practical skills used in planning practice. Upon completion, students should understand the fundamental aspects of planning practice and understand how to work with planning professionals in the development and implementation of public policy. As a skills lab course, the emphasis is on teaching and learning practical, hands-on expertise. 

Applicants should have a mix of academic knowledge, practical experience, and applied expertise in urban planning and its professional application.   We welcome applicants with demonstrated roles in an industry position that has required extensive urban planning practice, and/or as subject matter expertise through relevant research and through leadership. Previous teaching and training experience is a plus but not required. The Faculty of Social Sciences and MPP have significant strengths in the areas of research, teaching and mentorship and the successful candidate will reflect a similar level of excellence in these areas. 

The incumbent will be appointed at the appropriate rank with the MPP, located on the main university campus to begin January 2027.
