Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer in Calgary. You will work with limited supervision and direction as a team member or lead of medium to large projects while providing supervision and guidance to other, less experienced engineers and designers. You will lead the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineering principles to select the best plan involving the collaboration with multiple stakeholders and expertise within the company. You will be responsible for verifying compliance with applicable codes, design and construction specifications, and engineering standards/ practices.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team
  • Contribute to cost estimates in small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines
  • Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within specifications, scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans
  • Lead and perform design work and ensure the drafting of the pipeline alignment sheets, detailed crossings plans, and related pipeline facilities is accurate
  • Lead and oversee creation of material requisitions and review quotations for compliance with technical specifications
  • Interface with other departments, project managers, engineers, clients and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure a good working interface and accurate exchange of technical data;
  • Lead collaboration within project teams to determine and achieve project objective; and
  • Participate and lead regular project meetings

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated capability to take responsibility for and check the work of others for accuracy and completeness, work independently, and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Presentation and interview skills are preferred.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Pipeline Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 15 years of experience.

A minimum of 3 office days per week is required.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
