Job Description

What’s the Opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Business Continuity Risk is a strategic leader driving operational resilience and risk-aware culture across Personal Banking and Commercial Banking Canada. You will design and execute comprehensive business continuity risk management, scenario analysis, and reporting frameworks that ensure business preparedness, regulatory compliance (OSFI E-21 Guideline), and effective risk mitigation. This role integrates operational risk expertise with business continuity practices to proactively identify vulnerabilities, support recovery strategies, and deliver actionable insights to senior leadership while making a lasting impact through innovation and AI-driven solutions.

What will you do?

  • Leverage data to develop and refine key risk and performance indicators for business continuity risk to support monitoring processes across segments
  • Develop and deliver monthly and quarterly Operational Risk Profiles that aggregate data, gaps, exercise results, incidents, remediation status, and trend analysis for senior leadership
  • Execute scenario analysis per annual plan, finalize conclusions and recommend management actions to remediate identified risk gaps
  • Identify and document controls to align across risk registers
  • Identify blind spots to improve risk profile and create operational efficiencies to drive innovation
  • Collaborate with teams and business partners to ensure integrated gap remediation and business preparedness
  • Support the Director to prepare reporting, compile audit materials and regulatory responses
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and expectations are complied with
  • In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide

What will you need to succeed? 

Must- have:

  • University degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Business Continuity Risk Management, Operational Risk, or Internal Audit in the financial services industry
  • Proficiency in data analysis, data interpretation, and metrics tracking to develop metrics
  • Ability to extract, validate, and cross-reference data from multiple source systems
  • Solid understanding of operational risk and OSFI regulatory frameworks (B-10, B-13, E-21)
  • Experienced People Leader with demonstrated ability to lead through influence and build trusted partnerships
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to execute independently
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
  • Strong program management skills and ability to create and execute detailed workback plans
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working in complex, matrix environments with diverse stakeholders
