Senior Accountant

 

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Type: Full-Time | Permanent | Hybrid Work Arrangement (3 days onsite, 2 work from home)

Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 annually (commensurate based on experience and education)

 

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role plays a key part in supporting financial operations across the Americas region, with a focus on maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the month-end close process.

 

You’ll collaborate closely with internal departments including payroll, tax, and operations, as well as global colleagues, to ensure financial integrity and operational efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support monthly financial close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition in line with US/CAD GAAP and IFRS.

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including intercompany transactions and fixed assets.

  • Assist with inventory tracking, payroll processing, and warranty file maintenance.

  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable processes.

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, bank reconciliations, and support credit control efforts.

  • Collaborate with the tax team on compliance and reporting matters.

  • Contribute to internal and external audit processes.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and workflow optimization.

  • Uphold internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies.

 

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, highly preferred to come from a manufacturing or shared services environment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or an Accounting Diploma) with the additional relevant experience as above.

  • CPA or CMA designation (or in progress) an asset.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and a solid understanding of financial controls.
