Bridging North America (BNA), a partnership of Fluor, ACS Infrastructure Canada and Aecon Group Inc., is seeking candidates for a Human Resource Specialist on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.
BNA was selected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the CAD$5.7 billion (approximate US$4.4 billion) Gordie Howe International Bridge project for Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA). When completed, the bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The project includes a bridge and border crossing spanning the Detroit River and connecting Detroit, Michigan, U.S., and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, by linking Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Michigan with the new extension of Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway) in Ontario. The scope also includes building new, state-of-the-art ports of entry on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Detroit River as well as improvements to existing infrastructure in both Michigan and Ontario.
In close collaboration with the other joint ventures, the Site Human Resources Specialist is the key HR contact for the Project team who will oversee and perform daily human resource functions at the Gordie Howe International Bridge (GHIB) project site. The Site Human Resources Specialist will also provide leadership and operational support to the GHIB project management, employees and contractors, and maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES:
• Coordinate daily HR functions for the GHIB project, ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to in compliance with current legislation and aligned with corporate standards, and policies and procedures.
• Support project site managers and serve as a change agent to implement best practices.
• Provide guidance, coaching and support to site leadership in dealing with employee relations issues
• Coordinate workplace investigations with support of Project Owner’s HR and site safety
• Partner closely with project leaders on expectations to ensure clear roles and responsibilities in all functions
• Participate in implementing and monitoring strategies to improve gaps in training, recruitment, and engagement of employees
• Participate in the recruiting process and onboarding of employees, contractors and consultant ensuring a positive experience
• Develop people communication processes and works closely with project leaders to ensure effective execution.
• Liaise with project leaders, project partner HR, Fluor HR and municipal, provincial & federal governmental officials, as required
• Participate and deliver site Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and programs
• Ensure compliance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and all other applicable Employment Laws
• Other duties as assigned
