As part of the Piping Materials Engineering Team, you will have the opportunity to:
• Participate in materials selection for Piping and associated components.
• Participate in the development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Prepare Piping Line Designation Tables (LDT).
• Specify and design Piping and associated components to industry Codes and Standards.
• Develop and review piping specifications.
• Specify fabrication, examination and testing requirements for Piping and associated components.
• Perform Technical Evaluations of bids from vendors for Piping and associated components.
• Be involved in Regulatory submissions for Piping.
• Interface with other engineering and support disciplines.
• Participate in feasibility studies, front-end and detailed design and construction support.
As part of the Piping Stress Engineering Team, you will have the opportunity to:
• Perform detailed stress calculations and piping flexibility analysis using manual techniques and software.
• Specify and design engineered supports for piping systems
• Coordinate with the piping design team and piping materials engineering to ensure that piping is designed and laid out consistent with code, client specifications and good engineering/fabrication practice.
• Interface with equipment, process, structural and control systems engineers to verify piping design.
• Validate piping loading on connected equipment
As part of the overall Piping Engineering Team, you will also have opportunities to:
• Cross training in Piping Materials Engineering, Piping Stress Engineering, and other Mechanical Engineering disciplines.
• Develop into Piping Engineer Lead responsible for complete Engineering and Design.
• Obtain knowledge of ASME, API codes, NACE standards, etc.
• Remain in the discipline as a technical expert, potential to become a Subject Matter Expert.
• Obtain Construction and site engineering experience.
• Work towards obtaining your Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) and maintaining your Professional Member status with APEGA.
Other career paths within the Corporation
• Develop into Engineering Managers on projects directing entire Engineering efforts or they can develop into Project Engineers and Project Managers.
