This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of one section of MUSC 2024: Guitar History and Techniques 1, from September 1 to December 31, 2026.
This course will introduce students to the various styles of guitar playing from classical to jazz to folk. This term covers the history of the instrument (including lute and other related plucked instruments) and an examination of guitar building techniques and guitar maintenance. Practical guitar instruction will include basic chord playing, music reading (first three strings) and melody playing. The basic rudiments of music theory will also be covered.

The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures, marking student assignments, developing course content on Brightspace, and submitting grades. In addition to course time, the instructor is required to hold office hours for student consultations.

The instructor is expected to announce the end-of-term student ratings/evaluations of instruction. This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
