The part-time academic will be responsible for delivering BIOL 4003.03, Indigenous Perspectives in Conservation Biology. This is an online-asynchronous course that will be offered in the Summer session, July 6 – August 21, 2026.

This course takes a holistic approach to conservation biology. Paradigms and frameworks in Indigenous science are explored through guided online discussions, digital resources, and critical reflection on conservation contexts. Native knowledge systems from Turtle Island are explored to highlight the roles and duties Indigenous peoples have with attention to Canada’s colonial framework and the treaties.

Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, preparation and evaluation of tests and reports, assisting and responding to students, grade submission, etc. The part-time academic should expect to spend considerable time before and after the official course dates in preparation for the course and marking assignments.

Given the online delivery of this course, the successful applicant is not required to work in-person on campus. This position reports to the Chair of the department.
