Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As Manager, Portfolio Management, you will be a strategic leader responsible for optimizing resource capacity, driving stakeholder collaboration, and fostering innovation within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role ensures efficient workforce management, aligns resource allocation with financial goals, and leverages data-driven insights to enhance productivity and decision-making. You will be a proactive, analytical leader capable of balancing strategic thinking with operational execution in a collaborative, results-driven environment. You will also be a key partner within the PBO Team by supporting data analysis and communicating meaningful insights when collaborating with external partners, including Workforce Management Optimization, Operational Data, Information and AI.

What will you do?

  • Deliver effective resource capacity management reporting across (Personal Banking Operations) PBO by partnering with senior business leaders, accurately tracking monthly movements of FTE while holding stakeholders accountable to Finance Plan
  • Coordination with Finance on FTEs, agency usage, savings, and reinvestments
  • Monitor workforce changes including onboarding, contract renewals, and resource optimization
  • Effectively track and manage vacancy backfills, guiding leaders in their hiring strategies
  • Collaborate with team members on various strategic initiatives
  • Build trust with senior leaders by coordinating monthly meetings to review resource capacity and identify early warning signs of resource strains
  • Design various reporting offering transparency and visibility of turnover and backfill trends
  • Deliver insights and recommendations on opportunities to increase productivity, optimize costs, improve client/employee experience, and support decision-making
  • Partner with business units to translate needs into actionable analytics solutions
  • Contribute to innovations by identifying high-impact use cases for intelligent agents and automation, with constant focus on process improvements
  • Support team members by looking for opportunities for workflow optimization and efficiencies in reporting, deepening performance insights and tracking
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with organizational standards
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation related to reporting solutions, including specifications, data lineage, technical and business definitions for metrics
  • Implement and maintain appropriate risk controls to protect the organization and its clients
  • Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks
  • In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 3+ years of data and analytics work experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Administration or related field
  • Proficient in use of SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint, or other data visualization tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and time management skills with high attention to detail
  • Self-starter/ growth mindset with bias for action, ability to think strategically while remaining laser-focused on the achievement of outcomes
  • Proven business orientation to identify opportunities for revenue / cost savings
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to work well collaboratively in a cross-functional environment as well as independently, taking initiative and ownership
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems and solution comprehensively

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in Personal Operations / Operational Data & Systems
  • Master’s degree or certifications in Data Analytics
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Python and Tableau
