Purpose
The Manager, Business Intelligence & Insights for Global Banking Transaction Banking is responsible for leading the development and end-to-end delivery of business insights by partnering closely with business stakeholders, analytics engineering teams, and technology teams. The incumbent contributes to the overall success of GTB by transforming complex data into meaningful, actionable insights that support strategic decision-making in a timely and scalable manner.

 

The successful candidate brings strong technical, financial, and analytical expertise, along with the ability to communicate effectively with audiences up to and including Scotiabank executives. This individual is a dynamic and organized self-starter who thrives in environments of ambiguity, is highly detail-oriented, and operates effectively in a fast-paced setting. Strong leadership, business acumen, and an in-depth understanding of GTB products, services, and operations are essential.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Design visually impactful and intuitive dashboards supported by efficient and scalable data models, leveraging industry best practices and advanced modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and data storytelling capabilities through dashboards and visualizations.
  • Deliver actionable insights to GTB business stakeholders across Sales, Product, Channels, Operations, Strategy, and Risk.
  • Collaborate closely with Salesforce CRM teams to define enhancement requirements and resolve data quality issues.
  • Support ad hoc analysis requests to inform and drive strategic business decisions.
  • Ensure accuracy, governance, and appropriate access controls across the BI ecosystem.
  • Identify, prioritize, analyze, remediate, and escalate data and reporting issues as required.
  • Serve as a centre of excellence for GTB business, Product, and Payments analytics, acting as a trusted advisor on all matters related to data and analytics.
  • Ideate and develop best-in-class automation solutions and reporting tools to support Sales, Payments, and Product teams in effective portfolio management.
  • Partner closely with GTB Analytics Engineering and Advanced Analytics teams to solve complex business challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with GTB business stakeholders across Sales, Product, Operations, Channels, and Strategy.
  • Collaborate with GBM Client Insights & Analytics, Commercial Banking Analytics, and Business Banking Analytics teams to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.
  • Incorporate the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture into day-to-day activities and decision-making.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or MBA considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, insights, or related fields.
  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Power BI, SQL, and data modeling.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes, data mining, profiling, cleansing, and enrichment.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as Azure Databricks and Google BigQuery.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian banking and payments industries.
