About the role
 

The work of a Inventory Specialist is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will be responsible for the effectiveness and deliverables of the testing group. The individual will manage Testing inventory, which accounts for the majority of the testing budget, within the SAP system and will be the primary liaison between the Testing Operations and Logistics and Warehouse.


Key responsibilities include:
 

  • To monitor and manage inventory levels as the organization transitions to an SAP system for inventory management
  • Reconciliation of items received from logistics/warehousing and the documentation entered into SAP
  • Ensuring that essential supplies are on hand to maintain the operations of the Testing group
  • Monitoring and assessing of Minimum/Maximum levels within SAP; determining changes required to better support the organization and reduce shortfalls or overstock situations
  • Develops and delivers training and support to Testing staff in the use of SAP as it applies to laboratory inventory
  • Performs other related duties as required

 

Qualifications:
 

  • Generally requires a college diploma in Business or Operations management, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Diploma or certificate in inventory management would be an asset

 

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
 

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP as it applies purchasing and inventory management
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with inventory management in a laboratory or similar setting
  • A familiarity with medical laboratory products, language and nomenclature
  • Effective time management, written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and communication skills in English are essential
  • Excellent computer skills are essential with proficiency in software and database applications
