Are you seeking a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for up a Licensed General Machinist to join our Plant Maintenance Department. Come join our team!

What You Will Do

 

  • Working on moderately complex fabrication, modification and repair work on a variety of metal parts and tools for use on machinery and equipment throughout the Commission
  • Work involves the calculation of dimensions and tolerances, the set up, adjustment, and operation of machines tools (e.g. lathes, milling machines, planer, shaper, cutters, drills, etc. some of which are CNC controlled) in order to produce and/or repair metal parts, tools machines, etc.
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies

What Skills and Qualifications Do You Have?

 

  • Must have a Certificate of Qualification (issued by the Skilled Trades Ontario) as a General Machinist (429A)
  • Completion of Grade 12 or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department, plus the successful completion of the apprenticeship training program for the General Machinist
  • Must have a valid class “G” province of Ontario driver’s licence or better
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to pass tests set by the Operations Group which correspond to content to the knowledge, theory and/or practical requirements set out above
  • Must provide a set of tools as per the established tool list.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
