Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent  Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

The Human Resources (HR) & Brand, Marketing & Corporate Citizenship (BMCC) technology team is responsible for optimizing and modernizing the systems and tools that support HR/BMCC functions (ex. recruitment, learning, performance, brand, communications). In HR/BMCC Tech, we aim to improve the overall employee experience and enhance our external brand perception.

As the Director of HR/BMCC Tech, Innovation & Product Management, you will play a pivotal role in preparing our HR/BMCC technology ecosystem for an AI-driven future. You will lead strategic initiatives in collaboration with business partners while ensuring the seamless and efficient delivery of IT solutions.

What will you do?

  • Lead the overall technical strategy – acting as a liaison between the business, architecture, and development teams to execute and deliver products and capabilities

  • Manage a portfolio comprised of different products and technologies: SaaS, AI Models & Infrastructure, and Databases that address high impact business challenges

  • Define a product roadmap ensuring alignment to business processes and RBC’s overarching digital transformation goals and objectives

  • Lead and develop a team of Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts, and Product Managers and work closely with developers and engineers to ensuring SDLC/AIDLC and continuous improvement practices are followed

  • Manage and collaborate with many stakeholders as a strategic, trusted partner and ensure conflicts, issues and escalations are dealt with in an efficiency and timely manner

  • Build a deep understanding of the data within your respective domains – mobilize teams working on overall data strategy and build your teams data capability as a key pillar to AI readiness

  • Proactively call out both IT and project risks, document them and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Partner with Project Managers to ensure budgets, forecasts, status updates, RAID logs, and all project governance audit items are met

What do you need to succeed?

 Must have:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Proven ability to define and execute a forward-thinking technical strategy, aligning product roadmaps with business objectives and digital transformation goals.

  • Product Management Expertise: Strong background in managing diverse portfolios, including SaaS platforms, AI models, databases, and infrastructure. Demonstrated success in defining product roadmaps, prioritizing features, and delivering measurable business outcomes.

  • AI and Data Proficiency: Deep understanding of data ecosystems, data strategy, and AI readiness. Experience in mobilizing teams to build data capabilities and leveraging data as a foundation for AI-driven solutions.

  • Stakeholder Management and Communication: Exceptional ability to collaborate with and influence diverse stakeholders. Skilled in conflict resolution, issue escalation, and fostering trusted partnerships.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Strong track record of building, mentoring, and leading high-performing teams

Nice-to-have: 

  • Agile and DevOps Expertise: Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum practices, and DevOps principles to foster a culture of continuous delivery, experimentation, and iterative improvement.

  • Change Management and Organizational Transformation: Experience in driving large-scale change initiatives, particularly in modernizing legacy systems and processes to align with digital transformation efforts.

  • Experience with HR and BMCC Technologies: Knowledge of HR and Brand, Marketing & Corporate Citizenship (BMCC) systems, tools, and platforms, such as recruitment, learning, performance management, and communication technologies.

  • Technical Acumen in Emerging Technologies: Understanding of emerging technologies like machine learning, cloud computing, and advanced analytics, with the ability to assess their potential impact and applicability to HR/BMCC functions.
