We are currently seeking a Dean's Assistant to join our Faculty of Science team.

Job Overview

To provide administrative support for the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Science.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution and a minimum of three years of administrative support experience with advancing levels of responsibility. Understanding the nature of the work of academic areas in a university is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience in managing the multiple demands within a large and complex organization.
  • Proven ability to address confidential matters and materials with tact and discretion.
  • Proven ability to take direction and complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Proven ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to comprehend, communicate and comply with established policies, practices and procedures.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively in an administrative environment with multiple demands and frequent interruptions.
  • Proven ability to work as a constructive and cooperative team member.
  • Superior accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in editing documents.
  • Superior organizational skills in coordinating projects and meeting multiple overlapping deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to technologies and rapidly changing environments.
  • Thorough knowledge and proven ability to accurately compose standard forms of business communication, such as memoranda, meeting minutes and agendas, business letters and email.
  • Proven excellence in interpersonal skills, with the ability to patiently and effectively deal with a diverse range of people in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Proven ability to successfully recognize, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of integrated administrative technologies including MS Word, MS Excel, Share Point, email, electronic calendars and internet. Familiarity with Banner is an asset.
  • Typing speed of 50 wpm.

As per the KPU-BCGEU Collective Agreement, qualified internal applicants within the BCGEU bargaining unit are given first consideration in filling this position. Salary Information

Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
