The Occupational Health and Safety Diploma Program is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in OHS courses, developing curriculum, and fostering a positive learning environment for students.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive OHS courses.
  • Prepare and update course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and exams.
  • Provide students with timely and constructive feedback. Ability to submit marks/records promptly.
  • Provide direct classroom/lab instruction while utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career goals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Stay current with industry trends and integrate relevant information into the curriculum.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in OHS or equivalent; a related Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in OHS or Education or related area would be an asset.
  • Professional certification (ROH/CIH/CRSP/CSP) designation.
  • Minimum 5 years’ practical experience in occupational health & safety.
  • Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level is an asset.
  • Equivalencies will be considered.

 Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

  

Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).

 

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
